Haryana starts ‘farm tourism’ scheme

Haryana‘s hinterlands into tourist hot-spots, the state goverment started the ‘Farm Tourism‘ scheme, under which registered farm owners can host tourists under holiday packages.  The state government has started farm tourism to attract people to villages,” Haryana Tourism Minister Rambilas Sharma. Holiday packages will be offered to tourists at registered farms near Delhi.

  • To aware people about the history and culture of Haryana, the state government has been focusing on developing ancient cultural heritage, historical and famous pilgrimage sites as tourism spots.
  • Concepts of diverse forms of tourism– religious, heritage, agriculture, golf, adventure and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events)– are being promoted by the government.
  • There is a plan to start adventure activities in Tikkar Taal of Morni (Panchkula), Surajkund in Faridabad and Damdama in Gurgaon.

Haryana state was formed on 1 November 1966. Haryana is one of the most economically developed regions in South Asia, and its agricultural and manufacturing industries have experienced sustained growth since the 1970s.

It is bordered by Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to the north, and by Rajasthan to the west and south. The river Yamuna defines its eastern border with Uttar Pradesh.

  • The Yamuna-Ghaggar plain forming the largest part of the state
  • The Shivalik Hills to the northeast
  • Semi-desert sandy plain to the southwest
