1. ICC announces Team of World Cup, two Indians feature on the list

The ICC on Monday named the Team of the 2019 World Cup, which features two Indians, opener Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson, who won the player of the tournament award, has been named the captain of the team. The 12-member team includes four players from the tournament-winning side, England.

2. Mochizuki first Japanese player to win boy’s Grand Slam title

Shintaro Mochizuki on Sunday became the first Japanese player to win a boy’s Grand Slam title, beating Carlos. Gimeno Valero of Spain 6-3, 6-2 in the Wimbledon final. The 16-year-old, who was playing just his third grass-court tournament, said he had learned a lot from his compatriot, 2014 US Open finalist Kei Nishikori.

3. Former leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar has been appointed as the deputy chief minister of Goa

Former leader of opposition Chandrakant Kavlekar has been appointed as the deputy chief minister of Goa. He sworn in as DCM on 15 July. He is among the four legislators inducted into the Goa cabinet. The appointment came days after 10 Congress MLAs in Goa joined the BJP. Mr.Sawant reshuffled the Goa cabinet on 13 July.

4. Padma Shri awardee Raghu Ram receives FRCS of Thailand

Popular breast surgeon and Padma Shri awardee P.Raghu Ram bagged with Honorary Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) of Thailand . The function held at the 44th annual congress of the Royal College in Pattaya . The theme of the function is “ASEAN collaboration in value-based surgery”.

5. Bangladeshs former military dictator H.M. Ershad passed away

Bangladesh’s former military dictator H.M. Ershad passed away at the age of 89. He had long been suffering from multiple complications including infections in his lungs and kidneys. Ershad seized power in a 1982 and ruled the country from 1982 to 1990.

6. Kalraj Mishra appointed HP Governor, Acharya Devvrat moved to Gujarat

Senior BJP leader and former Union Minister Kalraj Mishra was on Monday appointed as the Governor of Himachal Pradesh, replacing Acharya Devvrat, who has been transferred and appointed as the Governor of Gujarat. A Rashtrapati Bhavan press communique said the appointments of Mishra and Devvrat will come into effect from the dates they will assume charge of their respective offices.

7. Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer in longest Wimbledon singles final

Novak Djokovic saved two championship points in Wimbledon’s longest singles final to retain his title in a thrilling win over Roger Federer. On a Centre Court, with an atmosphere that felt at times more akin to football than tennis, Djokovic won 7-6 (7-5) 1-6 7-6 (7-4) 4-6 13-12 (7-3). As the clock ticked to four hours 57 minutes, Federer hit a ball high to hand the Serb victory.

8. England defeats New Zealand in astonishing Cricket World Cup final

England triumphed over New Zealand at Lord’s Sunday after coming out on top in a pulsating Super Over after the scores were tied after 50 overs.

Not only did it win, it did so in a way that will be remembered for a generation to come. After both teams reached 241, England doing so off the final ball of its innings, it was the host nation that came out on top in the most dramatic of circumstances.

9. ISRO calls off Chandrayaan 2 launch due to technical glitch

India’s ambitious second lunar mission, Chandrayaan 2, suffered a jolt in the early hours of July 15 with a technical snag forcing the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to call off the launch for the time being. ISRO, which aims to touch down on the South Pole of the Moon where no country had gone before, tweeted, ”Revised launch date will be announced later.”

10. World Youth Skills Day 15 July

On 15 July 2019, there will be celebrations at UN Headquarters and across the globe to mark World Youth Skills Day (WYSD) and raise awareness about the importance of youth skills development.

“Youth Skills for Sustainability and Innovation”. The exhibit is organized by WorldSkills, UNESCO, and UNESCO-UNEVOC, in partnership with the Permanent Missions of Sri Lanka and Portugal.

11. RBI to come up with mobile app to identify currency for visually impaired

The Reserve Bank of India will come out with a mobile application to help visually challenged people in identifying currency notes as cash still remains a dominant mode of transaction. At present, banknotes in the denominations of Rs 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 2,000 are in circulation, besides Re 1 notes issued by the Centre.

12. Asia on track to top 50% of World GDP by 2040: Report

India is poised to overtake the UK to become the world’s fifth largest economy, with a GDP or gross domestic production about double the size of either Canada or Russia, in the coming years, according to research by the Mckinsey Global Institute (MGI).

Also, along with China, which competes as an economy with the US, the institute says, Asia is now the centre of global economic activity.

13. Audi appoints Dhillon as India head

Audi, the third biggest German luxury car maker in the fiercely competitive luxury car market, has announced a change of guard, naming Balbir Singh Dhillon as Head at Audi India to arrest the declining sales over last three straight years.

Dillion, who will take charge from September 1, has a herculean task to get back to its pole position achieved in 2014 with highest sales of 10,851 cars, when it beat compatriot archrival and current market leader Mercedes-Benz and BMW.

14. New Zealand-born Stokes named Man of 2019 WC final vs New Zealand

England all-rounder Ben Stokes, who scored 84*(98) in the 2019 World Cup final against New Zealand, was named Man of the Final. The 28-year-old, who was born in New Zealand’s Christchurch, became the first-ever England player to win the Man of the World Cup Final award. Stokes also hit eight of England’s 15 runs in the Super Over.

15. Mercedes’ Hamilton wins record sixth British Grand Prix

Mercedes’ British driver Lewis Hamilton won a record sixth British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday. Hamilton has surpassed record-holders Jim Clark and Alain Prost, who both had five wins in the British Grand Prix. Hamilton’s Finnish partner Valtteri Bottas came in the second place while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took the third spot.

16. BL Santosh appointed BJP’s National General Secretary (Organisation)

Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed BL Santosh as its National General Secretary (Organisation). Santosh, previously the party’s Joint General Secretary (Organisation), took over from Ramlal, who went back to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh after serving for one of the longest terms in the key party post. The BJP said in a statement that Santosh’s appointment comes into immediate effect.
