Venkadarath Saritha : Delhi Transport Corporation’s First Woman Driver

Venkadarath Saritha, 30 year old woman from Telangana has been inducted as the first woman driver of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). The Capital City has seen women driving autos and cabs but it is witnessing for the first time, a woman driving a bus. The Transport Minister of Delhi, Gopal Rai, lauded Saritha for accepting the challenge of driving a bus on the roads of Delhi and complimented DTC officials for their decision. Saritha was provided all possible assistance from the DTC authorities for obtaining the mandatory public service vehicle badge from the transport department.

Saritha  was working as a private chauffeur in South Delhi when she was hired by the DTC in March. Saritha has been currently posted at Sarojini Nagar depot. She will be put on day-time duty at a route in the central part of the city.
