Rory McIlroy wins WGC World Match Play in San Francisco

World Number one Rory McIlroy form Norther Ireland has won the WGC World Match Play Championship by defeating Gary Woodland of United States in the final at Harding Park. McIlroy has packeted $1.57m jackpot on offer with an imperious 4 and 2 win over the American.

McIlroy was trailing by one hole at the 16th after a roller-coaster of a match when he first hit his tee-shot to within four feet for birdie at the par-three 17th. He then drained a 44-foot eagle putt at the last to stun the veteran American.
