Prasar Bharati signs strategic alliance with Digital TV Russia

Prasar Bharati, India’s public service broadcaster, and Digital Television Russia (DTR), Russia’s first Pay-TV programmer, has signed an MoU on Cooperation which will set the stage for a new media era in both the countries. This strategic alliance will focus on high quality production, marketing and distribution of content related to art, culture, trade, science, research and technology etc.

The MoU, signed by Prasar Bharati CEO Jawahar Sircar and the Deputy CEO of Russia Television and radio Dmitry Mednikov. also envisages cooperation to repackage/repurpose or club iconic TV programmes produced by one party for broadcast or use by the other party. The audience of the project is expected to be around 700 million people.

The two sides also agreed to cooperate in distribution of TV signals of each other on a reciprocal basis and in Research and Development for technological modernisation. The other areas in which they will cooperate include digitisation, training each others manpower and making each others Television programmes.
