MOM completed its one year around the red planet on 24th September 2015. In the tenure of one year,, a large data set has been acquired by all five payloads of Mars Orbiter Mission. ISRO will publish a book, ‘Fishing hamlet to Mars’ on November 5 2015. Some 350 stunning photos of the Red Planet have already been beamed back by the satellite.
It was on September 2014 that India successfully launched MOM in orbit around the Red Planet on its very first attempt, breaking into an elite club of three nations.The Mangalyaan has been a 100-per-cent success after it was injected into the Martian orbit, where it has already completed some 120 orbits. ISRO says the Mars Orbiter Mission still has some 45 kg of fuel left which could, in theory, keep the mission going for at least 15 years. It said about two kg of fuel is necessary per year.
