IRCTC is planning to offer a new service of ‘baggage insurance’ for passengers’. Under this, a customer will be offered additional services like insurance coverage for baggage while booking e-tickets on the IRCTC website.

  • The goods like laptop, mobile phone or any other valuable articles will be covered as part of the travel insurance package.
  • A customer will be given an option to avail the insurance coverage, which will not be mandatory.
  • The insurance premium will depend on the length of the journey and also the class of travel.
  • The tie-up is being formalized with New India Assurance
