Himachal Pradesh Government launched RISHTA project

RISHTA PROJECT

RISHTA PROJECT launched by Himachal Pradesh Government has become the first North Indian state to launch an efficient smart LED-based street lighting project.  which stands for Rajiv Gandhi Illuminating Scheme for Hill Town Advancement. This project is being implemented by collaboration of state Urban Development Department and Energy Efficient Services Limited (EESL). The project aims at replacing a total of 63,484 street lights will be replaced with LEDs in all the Urban Local Bodies to achieve 45 to 55 percent energy savings.

Under the scheme, the EESL will invest all the capital upfront. The investment will be paid back by municipalities over a period of seven years from energy and cost savings. The scheme would be immediately launched in Shimla, Dharamsala, Sundernagar, Paonta Sahib, Hamirpur, Ghumarvin and Manali and the rest of the towns would be lighted well before March 31, 2016.
