Haryana Allocates Rs.12 crore for International Gita Mahostav

The Haryana government announced that as part of its International Gita Mahotsav, the government is tying up with various organisations to holding aarti simultaneously across different countries. The aarti to be held at Brahm Sarovar in Kurukshetra on December 10 will be telecast live on Youtube. As per state officials, around 18,000 people will participate and chant 18 shlokas of Gita on the occasion.

The Haryana state government will be holding the Mahatsov from December 6 to 10. The government has allocated a budget of Rs 12 crore to the Kurukshetra Development Board for the Mahotsav. President Pranab Mukherjee would be inaugurating the mahotsav on December 6, said the officials. A total of 574 participants will reach Kurukshetra on December 6 wearing traditional dresses with Gita shalokas printed on them.

Gita Mahotsav is celebrated to commemorate the birth day of ‘Srimad Bhagwat Gita’, the sacred scripture containing invaluable advice of Lord Krishna that he proffered to Arjuna, the third Pandava in the battlefield of Kurukshetra on the first day of the famous 18-day battle in the Mahabharata
