Vinesh Phogat won gold medal in the 53 kg category at the Grand Prix of Spain 2019. India’s top wrestler Vinesh Phogat won her first gold medal after shifting to 53kg category and Divya Kakran claimed the top honours in the 68kg category at the Grand Prix of Spain 2019 at Madrid, Spain. In the championship, India finished second with 130 points in team championship behind Russia which secured 165.

Mirabai lifted a total of 191kg in the senior women’s 49 kg event.

India’s largest two-wheeler maker Hero MotoCorp on Tuesday appointed Rajat Bhargava as the head of its new ‘Emerging Mobility’ business unit. Hero created the unit to give an impetus to new mobility trends such as Electric Vehicles, the company said. Currently, Bhargava is the Head of Strategy & Performance Transformation and Global Business at the company.

5. Dhoni becomes 2nd Indian cricketer after Sachin to play 350 ODIs

Former Team India captain MS Dhoni on Tuesday became the second Indian cricketer after Sachin Tendulkar to play 350 matches in ODI cricket. Dhoni has scored 10,723 runs at an average of 50.58 and has effected 443 dismissals (320 catches and 123 stumpings) in his first 349 ODIs. Overall, MS Dhoni is the tenth cricketer to reach 350 ODIs.

Leading fitness brand Reebok, which boasts of global assets like Victoria Beckham has announced Bollywood actor and wellness enthusiast, Katrina Kaif, as their new Indian brand ambassador. According to Katrina, ‘Being a fitness aficionado myself, the brand serves as a motivation for me to be disciplined and also gives me a platform to endorse the need to be fit.’

8. Rahul Dravid appointed as head of cricket at National Cricket Academy

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board, which met in New Delhi, finalised a three- year roadmap to improve regulation and supervision, among other functions of the central bank.

This medium term strategy — named Utkarsh 2022 — is in line with the global central banks’ plan to strengthen the regulatory and supervisory mechanism, sources aware of the board meeting told The Hindu.

10. LinkedIn names Ashutosh Gupta as country manager for India

Microsoft-owned social networking site for professionals, LinkedIn, has appointed Ashutosh Gupta as the new country manager for India operations.

A sales veteran with two decades of experience in IT & Software Services, according to LinkedIn, Gupta will take charge, in his new role, from 2 September. He has worked with Google, Cognizant, and Infosys and joined LinkedIn’s Marketing Solutions (LMS) in 2013.

11. CapitaLand completes $8 bn acquisition of Ascendas-Singbridge

Singapore-based investor CapitaLand Ltd on Sunday said it has completed the purchase of Temasek Holdings-owned Ascendas-Singbridge Pte. Ltd.

The deal creates one of Asia’s largest diversified real estate groups with over S$123 billion of assets under management (AUM).

12. Fairfax-backed CSB Bank set to file for up to ₹500 crore share sale

Kerala-based private lender CSB Bank, earlier known as The Catholic Syrian Bank Ltd, is set to file its draft initial public offering (IPO) papers, said two people aware of the development.

Last year, Canadian billionaire Prem Watsa’s Fairfax acquired a 51% stake in CSB Bank for around $168 million, following the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) first such approval given to a foreign firm.

13. Government Aims To Raise Rs 15,000 Crore By Stake Sales: Report

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman set an ambitious target of Rs 1.05 lakh crore ($15.33 billion) from the sale of stakes in state-run companies, compared with Rs 85,000 crore the previous year.
