  1. Parallel Wireless wins Graham Bell Award

Parallel Wireless, the leader in end-to-end 2G, 3G, and 4G Open RAN solutions, has won the prestigious Aegis Graham Bell Award for Innovation in Telecom Infrastructure in the 8th edition of the award.
The Aegis Graham Bell Awards, instituted by the Aegis School of Business, Data Science, Cyber Security and Telecommunication in association with the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), and Telecom Centres of Excellence (TCOE) India, honours innovations in the field of the telecom, social, mobility, analytics and cloud.

  1. Modi launches Rs 1000-cr development schemes for Daman & Diu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched development schemes worth Rs 1,000 crore for Daman and Diu, and also inaugurated a flight connecting Ahmedabad to coastal town of Diu.
The prime minister, who inaugurated Air Odisha’s flight connecting Ahmedabad with Diu under the Centre’s regional connectivity scheme UDAN, stated by air connectivity will boost tourism in the region.

  1. PM Modi launches subsidised ‘Amma’ two-wheeler scheme in TN

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the subsidised scooter scheme for working women on the 70th birth anniversary celebrations of late leader Jayalalithaa.
The scheme, with a subsidy component of 50 per cent upto Rs 25,000 for working women, was launched by Modi, who handed over the keys and registration certificate copies to five women beneficiaries.

  1. Andhra signs 77 MoUs at Partnership Summit

The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a total of 77 MoUs worth Rs.31,546 crore investment with various companies at the CII Partnership Summit.
On the first day of the summit, the state government signed the MoUs which were expected to generate employment for 98,291 people.
The CII Partnership Summit 2018 has been organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in association with the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, and the State Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Aadhaar is increasingly becoming mandatory for Indian citizens, and even newborns are eligible to be enrolled.
The UIDAI has now announced that children under five years of age will get a special blue-colored Aadhaar called ‘Baal Aadhaar.’

  1. Google holds 1st-ever Developer Students Club Summit in Goa

Google has commenced its first ever Developer Students Club (DSC) Summit in India. The three-day summit, from February 23 to 25, is being held in Goa and aims at creating a pool of a highly-skilled workforce in the country.
It will provide Indian students with a head-start on current technologies like machine learning, artificial intelligence (AI) and mobile and web development.

Saudi Arabia’s first-ever jazz festival, the second of a three-day outdoor event that showcases the Kingdom’s recent efforts of shedding its conservative image.
The entertainment plans are largely motivated by economics, part of a reform programme to diversify the economy away from oil and create jobs for young Saudis.

Manchester United legend Nemanja Vidic and Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh recently launched the India chapter of Football For Peace in Mumbai.
FFP, which is supported by the English Premier League and the UK Foreign Office, will identify 10-12 cities in the country as part of its Cities for Peace initiative. FFP’s iconic `Peace Match’ is likely to be held in Delhi later this year

  1. India wins its 1st individual medal at Gymnastics World Cup

Aruna Budda Reddy made the country proud by winning a bronze medal in vault at the ongoing Gymnastics World Cup in Melbourne. This is also the first time that an Indian has won an individual medal at the Gymnastics World Cup.
Reddy could not make it to the national team for the 2010 Commonwealth Games as she was underage but then she took part in the 2014 CWG and now she is well on her way achieving success in the world of gymnastics.

  1. Nita Ambani presents medals at Winter Olympics in S Korea

International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Nita Ambani has presented medals to the top two finishers of the Alpine Skiing team event at the Winter Olympics
 Ambani gave away the gold and silver medals to Switzerland and Austrian teams. Switzerland won the inaugural Alpine Skiing team event by defeating Austria 3-1 at Jeongseon Alpine Centre. Ambani is India?s first woman IOC member. She is also a member of two important global commissions of the IOC.

    1. Editor-in-chief of ‘National Herald’ passes away

Veteran journalist and editor-in-chief of Delhi-based National Herald, Neelabh Mishra, died. In 2016, Mishra ‘steered’ the re-launch of National Herald, founded by former prime minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, as a digital news website.
