Bayer CropScience inaugurates new multi-crop breeding station in Haryana

Bayer CropScience, the world’s leading innovative crop science company, has  inaugurated a multi-crop breeding station at Karnal in Haryana. The high-tech breeding station is spread over 8.5 acres and the station will be well equipped with all aspects of R&D infrastructure. The company has other R&D facilities in Bengaluru and Kullu.  The new facility will also have a cultivable area of 5 acres for field experimentation and 2 acres for polyhouses.

Other than Polyhouses, the facility also has advanced phyto pathology lab and plots for breeding, seed cleaning and high-tech seed preparation laboratories, technically advanced cold room for germplasm storage and sufficient space for future expansion of activities are also part of the plan.

The modern facility at Haryana will mainly focus on breeding activities, screening of diseases, evaluation and selection of breeding materials, in-bred development and crossing in vegetable crops like cabbage, onion, tomato, hot peppers, cucumber, okra, etc.
