RBI plans IT wing to deal with cyber crime

The Reserve Bank is planning to set up an information technology wing to face the rising security challenges in the cyber world.

The Governor, Mr. Raghuram Rajan addressed the issue with Media on 14th May 2015. Mr. Rajan Said that the proposed IT entity’sclean structure has to be made, focusing on issues such as cyber security by supervising the nature of technical capabilities of  banks.

It is done to curb the online frauds in the financial sector. The cyber thieves have even been using RBI logos to send out mails to cheat customers.

  3. In past , RBI has noticed a surge in cybercrimes where hundreds of naïve people are targeted by crooks as they steal their credit card and debit card information to use them for online transactions and frauds.
  4. They even send out RBI logos to fool customer about authenticity, Cyber thieves are getting smarter as days passes by.
