NTPC signed two MoUs for Skill Development

The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has signed a pact two entities ie National Skill Development Fund (NSDF) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) for skill development training projects. As per the pact NTPC will provide skill training to 5000 youth and women across 22 locations with special focus on the eastern states with in two years and the cost of the project is Rs 6.5 Crore.

As per the second pact, NTPC will give training to more than 25000 candidates in services and manufacturing sectors across under-served locations in Bihar. The MoU is for five years with a project cost of Rs 30 crore.

Both the projects will be funded by NTPC and executed by NSDC through its Training Partners.

NTPC
  • NTPC was founded by Government of India in 1975 and the headquarters of the company is situated at New Delhi.
  • In May 2010, NTPC was conferred Maharatna status by the Union Government of India.
  • NTPC started work on its first thermal power project in 1976 at Singrauli in Uttar Pradesh.
  • NTPC operates from 55 locations in India, one location in Sri Lanka and 2 locations in Bangladesh.
  • The total installed capacity of the company is 43,803 MW (including JVs) with 17 coal-based and seven gas-based stations, located across the country
NSDC
  • NSDC is a not-for-profit company set up by the Ministry of Finance, under Section 25 of the Companies Act.
  • It aims to promote skill development by catalyzing creation of large, quality, for-profit vocational institutions.
