Mr.Modi will be first PM to visit Israel and Palestine

Narendra Modi will be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Israel and Palestine soon. This  visit will possibly tie the pending relations between the countries.  India had established “full” diplomatic relationship with Israel in 1992 though it had recognised the country in 1950.

No Indian Prime Minister have ever visited the Israel. Though no dates has been fixed yet for the visit. Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon had become the first premier from that country to visit India in 2003. He is credited with transforming bilateral relations from diminutive defence and trade cooperation to the strategic ties.

Describing Israel as a friendly country, Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj said India had never “let down” the Palestinian cause and it will continue to support it.

Points to Remember

Prime Minister will visit following countries during the year:

  1. July: Kazakistan, Uzbekistan, Kyrghyzstan, Tajikstan, Turkmenistan, Russia
  2. September: UN General Assembly
  3. October: Turkey to attend G-20 Summit and possible visit to nearby Countries.
  4. November: EAS and India-Asian visit to the country
