Airtel commercially Launches India’s first 4G services across 290 cities

India’s telecom giant Airtel has launched the high-speed 4G services across 296 towns across India on 6th August2015 . For the 4G devices, Airtel has aligned  with mobile handset maker Samsung to develop and provide 4G-enabled handsets in reasonable price.

Airtel customers can enjoy 4G at 3G data prices, with packs starting at Rs 25. To get started on Airtel 4G, customers need to switch to a 4G SIM. Apart from Airtel stores, Samsung retail stores will also facilitate 4G SIM swaps.

What is 4G?

Meaning: 4th generation

  •  It is the fourth generation of mobile telecommunications technology.
  • Succeeding 4 G and preceding 5 G.
  • 4G technologies would enable IP-based voice, data and streaming multimedia at higher speeds and offer at least 100 Mbit/s with high mobility and up to 1GBit/s with low mobility (nomadic)
  • 4G is an IP-based and packet-switched evolution of 3G technologies (such as WCDMA, HSDPA, CDMA2000 and EVDO) that uses voice communications. .

Airtel has also launched an automated platform called Flexpage that allows customers to track their data usage and get real time usage alerts. With Flexpage, customers can also upgrade their mobile plan on the go, as and when they exhaust their monthly data quota. Under this platform, customers can opt from a range of 4G data plans, with prices starting from Rs 100.
