  1. Mary Kom to Receive ‘ from International Boxing Association

Indian boxer M C Mary Kom is all set to add another honour to her glittering career when she receives the “Legends Award” from the International Boxing Association (AIBA) on its 70th anniversary on December 20. An Olympic bronze-medallist and a five-time world champion, Mary Kom is also a Rajya Sabha MP AIBA is celebrating its 70th Anniversary on December 20 during which it will present the award to MaryKom.

  1. Manoj Bajpayee Wins Best Actor Award

Indian actor Manoj Bajpayee has won the best performance award by an actor at the 10th Asia Pacific Screen Awards beating Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who was awarded a special mention in the same category. Hosted by Australian actor David Wenham and presenter Anjali Rao, the 2016 Awards marked the 10th year of APSA recognising and promoting cinematic excellence and cultural diversity of the world’s fastest growing film region.

  1. Assam hill station to host festival on sports, culture

Assam’s picturesque hill station Haf long will host the three-day ‘Judima Festival’ next month when tourists can indulge in a number of adventure sports like trekking, hiking, angling and satiate their taste buds by gulping one of the best traditional brews of the region. The theme of the festival, to be held on December 18-20, will be centered on preservation, promotion and nurturing of ethnic culture, music, dance, craft and folk-art of Dimasa tribals living in Dima Hasao district of the state.

  1. Jharkhand adopts new bill to curb job racket

The Jharkhand government has introduced a strict law against placement agencies to rein in those involved in exploiting people on the pretext of giving employment outside the state. The government framed ‘Jharkhand Nizi Niyozan Abhikaran and Gharelu Kamgar (viniyam) vidheyak 2016 (Jharkhand private employment agency and domestic employee bill) which was passed by the assembly recently.

  1. RBI Introduces Incremental CRR To Manage Excess Liquidity In Banking System

In order to absorb the surge in liquidity in banking system following demonetisation of high value notes, the Reserve Bank introduced an incremental Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) of 100 per cent. CRR is the portion of the deposits which banks are required to park to the RBI. Currently it is at 4 per cent.

  1. New Zealand, Australia most searched by Indian travellers in 2016

 Australia and New Zealand have emerged as favourite destinations amongst Indian travellers. Global travel Search Company Sky scanner drew comparisons between travel searches from 2015 and 2016, highlighting the places where Indian travellers will be ushering in 2017.

  1. Amozon to start Selling Amul product in US

Online marketplace Amazon India products from leading dairy brand Amul will be available in nine countries, starting with the US on 25 November. In May 2015, Amazon India launched its Global Selling program, under which Indian vendors can sell their products in nine countries including the US, the UK, Japan, Canada and France with a total consumer base of 300 million.

  1. Sachin 3rd Indian boxer to win gold at Youth World Championship

Sachin Singh became only the third Indian boxer ever to strike gold at Youth World Championships with a stunning unanimous win over JorgeGrinan. Rising boxer Sachin Singh will be given a cash award of Rs. 1 lakh for notching up an impressive victory in the finals of AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship in St. Petersburg, Russia by Boxing Federation of India (BFI) President Ajay Singh.

  1. PV Sindhu, Sameer Verma lose in final of Hong Kong Open Super Series

PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma fell at the final hurdle as the Indians lost the Hong Kong Open Super Series final. Sindhu lost to Taiwan’s Tai Tzu Ying 15-21, 17-21 while Verma went down fighting against home favourite NG Ka Long 14-21, 21-10, 11-21. Ying, who has two wins over world No.1 Carolina Marin in two weeks, continued her magnificent form and was not bogged down when Sindhu raced away to a 4-1 lead in the second game.

  1. Aditi Ashok wins inaugural Qatar Ladies Open

Indian teen golfer Aditi Ashok shot a final round of three-under 69 on a weather-hit last day to notch up her second successive victory on the Ladies European Tour at the inaugural Qatar Ladies Open. After claiming her maiden win at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, the 18-year-old rookie professional from Bangalore totaled 15-under-par at the Doha Golf Club to grab a three-stroke win over Lydia Hall and Caroline Hedwall.
