Prime Minister Narendra Modi paying tribute to late President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam on his 84th birth anniversary,hailing him as a ‘rashtra ratna’. Narendra Modi highlighted not just Dr Kalam’s personal rise from humble roots but also his contribution to the organisations that he led to great heights.  PM Modi attended the birth anniversary celebrations of Kalam at the DRDO headquarters (New Delhi) where he unveiled his bust as well.

Mr. Modi said that government has already acquired the land for Dr. Kalam’s memorial at his birth place Rameswaram, adding, “a committee has been set up to discuss modalities in this regard“. The Prime Minister launched a book on Dr. Kalam’s scientific vision and also released a commemorative postage stamp. Rameshwaram will also be developed as an ‘AMRUT’ city.

Several Union Ministers including Manohar Parikkar, Venkaih Naidu, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Dr. Harshvardhan were also present on the occasion.
