Mathematician Dr. Amalendu Krishna wins Ramanujan Prize 2015

Mathematician Dr. Amalendu Krishna has won the Ramanujan Prize for year 2015. He has been honoured for his contributions in the area of algebraic cycles, algebraic K-theory and the theory of motives. Presently, Dr. Krishna is mathematician professor at the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai. He is from Bihar and had completed his early college and schooling education there.

About Ramanujan Prize

  • The ICTP Ramanujan Prize for Young Mathematicians from Developing Countries is a mathematics prize awarded annually by the International Centre for Theoretical Physics and named after the mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
  • It was founded in 2004, and was first awarded in 2005.
  • It recognizes a researcher from a developing country who has conducted outstanding research in a developing country and is less than 45 years of age.
  • Jointly awarded by: Italy based International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Department of Science and Technology (DoST) of India and the International Mathematical Union (IMU).
  • Prize carries: citation & a monetary prize of US 15,000 dollars.
