Renowned Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has won gold medal on in people’s choice prize at world championship festival of sand sculpting Russe, 2016 in Bulgaria for his sand sculpture – “Drugs kill Sports”. After recently bagging a gold medal in Moscow for creating a beautiful sand sculpture on Peace and Nonviolence, Indian sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik and his skills have done the nation proud, yet again.

With a total 10 artists participating in the championship,  Pattnaik received the highest number of public votes and was awarded the gold medal for his sand art that was 2 metre high.

• Sudarsan Pattnaik was awarded the Padma Shri by Government of India in 2014.
• Pattnaik was born in Puri, Odisha in India. He was the youngest of three brothers in his family. His childhood was full of hardships. Pattnaik taught himself the art of sand sculpture.
• He was the brand ambassador of NALCO, India.
• He established “The Golden Sand Art Institute” which is first of its nature in India. His sculptures include environmental crisis, famous festivals, national integrity and religious tolerance.
• His sand sculpture on Black Taj Mahal earned him accolades all over the world.
• He has won many national and international awards for his creative designs and has recorded his name in the World records.
