Ebola vaccine trial 100% successful in Guinea-WHO

A vaccine against Ebola has been shown to be 100% successful in trials conducted during the outbreak in Guinea and is likely to bring the west African epidemic to an end. The results of the trials involving 4,000 people are remarkable

Scientists, doctors, donors and drug companies collaborated to race the vaccine through a process that usually takes more than a decade in just 12 months.

What is Ebola?

It is a disease of humans and other primates caused by ebolaviruses.

Signs and symptoms

  • It does start between two days and three weeks after contracting the virus with a fever, sore throat,muscular pain, and headaches.
  • Then, vomiting, diarrhea and rash usually follow, along with decreased function of the liver and kidneys.
  • his is often due to low blood pressure from fluid loss, and typically follows six to sixteen days after symptoms appear.
