1. Simplifai launches the world-first generative AI tool for insurance

Simplifai, an AI automation solutions firm, has launched Simplifai InsuranceGPT, a custom-built, world-first GPT tool fuelled by the company’s no-code AI-powered platform.

InsuranceGPT provides communication between insurers and their customers through the use of generative AI. As a result, it delivers fast, concise, and accurate responses in a secure way.

While many insurance firms have integrated and utilized ChatGPT or Google Bard, InsuranceGPT by Simplifai is the first to be trained specifically on information directly relevant to the insurance industry.

2. Tamil Nadu topped NITI Aayog’s Export Preparedness Index 2022

The third edition of the NITI Aayog’s Preparedness Index 2022 has released on 17th July 2023. According to the report, out of the 680 districts engaged in exports, the top 100 districts contribute about 87% of the total exports from India.

To promote exports, 647 districts have formed a District Export Promotion Committee, while 557 have formulated a District Export Action Plan.

According to the Export Preparedness Index 2022, Tamil Nadu topped the ranking with an overall score of 80.89 while Maharashtra with a score of 78.20 was second and Karnataka was third with a score of 76.36.

Gujarat scored fourth position with a score of 73.22 followed by Andhra Pradesh, Odissa, West Bengal, and Kerala in the ranking of coastal areas.

3. Singapore passport named world’s most powerful, beats Japan

Singapore is the world’s most powerful passport with visa-free access to 192 travel destinations out of 227 around the world, according to Henley Passport Index released on Tuesday.

Germany, Italy, and Spain all move up into second place. Japan has been knocked off the top spot for the first time in five years and bumped into third place.

4. Nokia and TSSC launch 5G skill development center in Gujarat

In partnership with the Telecom Sector Skill Council (TSSC) and Kaushalya-The Skill University, Nokia has announced the establishment of a 5G skill development center in Gujarat.

The Center of Excellence (CoE) at ITI Kubernagar will establish a skill Lab dedicated to training individuals in 5G technology skills.

The primary objective is to offer job placements to at least 70 percent of learners within 4-6 weeks after completing the course. In the first year of the project, approximately 300 candidates will benefit from this program.

Balvantsinh Rajput, the Cabinet Minister for Labour and Employment in the state, presided over the inauguration ceremony of the 5G skill development center.

5. Neeraj Akhoury elected as President of Cement Manufacturers’ Association

The Cement Manufacturers’ Association (CMA), the apex body of India’s large cement manufacturers, unanimously elected Neeraj Akhoury, managing director of Shree Cement, as President and Parth Jindal, managing director of JSW Cement as vice president.

This election occurred at its Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) held on 14th July 2023. Akhoury takes over from K C Jhanwar, Managing Director of UltraTech Cement Limited.

Members unanimously endorsed the election of the president and vice president of CMA expressing full confidence in the newly elected leadership team.

6. Prithviraj Tondaiman wins bronze in trap in Shotgun World Cup

India’s lone medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato,Italy came from Prithviraj Tondaiman, who clinched the bronze medal in the trap event.

In the final round, Prithviraj secured the third position with a total of 34 points which marked his second individual ISSF World Cup medal, as he had previously won a bronze in Doha back in March.

Nathan Hales from Britain claimed the gold medal with 49 points, followed by Qi Ying from China who earned the silver medal with 48 points.

7. RBI, Central Bank of UAE sign two MoUs for trade in local currencies

On July 15, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Central Bank of UAE (CBUAE) signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) aimed at bolstering economic ties between the two nations.

The MoUs focus on promoting the use of local currencies for cross-border transactions and interlinking their payment systems, including the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) with the Instant Payment Platform (IPP) of UAE.

8. Ajeet Singh clinches gold medal in Para Athletics Championships in Paris

The Charlety Stadium in Paris hosted the Para Athletics World Championships from 8 to 17 July, attracting a diverse participation of more than 1200 athletes from 107 nations.

Ajeet Singh displayed his exceptional prowess in the finals of the Men’s javelin throw F46 category, emerging as the champion and claiming the gold medal.

With a remarkable throw measuring 65.41 meters, he secured the top spot in the competition.

Ajeet Singh’s outstanding performance not only earned him the championship title but also resulted in the breaking of the previous record held by Chunliang Guo of China, whose throw measured 61.89 meters.

9. Nelson Mandela International Day 2023 is observed on July 18

Nelson Mandela day is observed on July 18 every year. The United Nations (UN) had in 2009 declared July 18 as Nelson Mandela Day to honour Nelson Mandela, a South African anti-apartheid activist who served as the first President from 1994 to 1999.

Mandela was the first black head of state and was the first elected President in a fully democratic election in South Africa.
