1. NASA-ISRO to launch NISAR satellite in 2022

India and US recently held the two plus two dialogue. During the meet the country’s decided to share space situational awareness information. This will catalyse efforts in creating safe and sustainable space environment

A joint statement issued after the dialogue read that the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar called the NISAR is to be launched by 2022.

2. NPCI launches “Rupay Festive Carnival”

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) launched ‘RuPay Festive Carnival’. The ‘RuPay Festive Carnival’ will give compelling advantage and interesting discounts to RuPay users. It aimed at contactless, motivating safe and cashless payments.

3. Veteran Gujarati Actor Naresh Kanodia passes away

Veteran Gujarati film star-turned-politician, Naresh Kanodia passed away. He was the younger brother of Gujarati singer Mahesh Kanodia who died on 25 October 2020 in Gandhinagar after a prolonged illness.

4. Indian Army celebrates 74th Infantry Day in J&K

Every year, October 27 is celebrated as Infantry Day by the Indian Army in Jammu & Kashmir (known by the nickname, Chinar Corps). The Chinar Corps celebrated the 74th Infantry Day on October 27, 2020, to honour the supreme sacrifice of the gallant soldiers in fighting the Pakistani invaders, in Jammu and Kashmir, in 1947.

5.International Animation Day: 28 October

International Animation Day is observed globally on 28 October every year. The day has celebrated the art of animation and also recognise the artists, scientists and technicians behind animation.

This year marks the 19th International Animation Day. The day was created in 2002 by International Animated Film Association (ASIFA), an International Animated Film Association, a member of UNESCO.

6. Luis Arce declared as Bolivia’s president-elect

Luis Arce has been chosen as the President-elect of Bolivia, after winning a landslide victory in the 2020 Bolivian general election. He captured 55.1% of the total votes. Arce will take the charge of the office on 8 November 2020. He would succeed Jeanine Anez, who is serving as the interim President of Bolivia.

8. India Post, US Postal Service sign pact for electronic exchange of customs data

The Department of Posts and United States Postal Service signed an agreement for electronic exchange of customs data related to postal shipments between the two countries, an official statement said.

The agreement was signed by Department of Posts Deputy Director General (international relations and global business) Prannoy Sharma and United States Postal Service’s Global Business Managing Director Robert H Raines Jr.
