Cabinet approves MoU with Cambodia for tourism

The union cabinet in a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 22nd September 2015 gave ex post facto approval for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cambodia for cooperation in the field of tourism. The MoU was signed on September 16 2015 in the presence of Mr. Hamid Ansari when he visits Cambodia.

  • Objective: It is to include exchange of information and data related to tourism, encouraging cooperation between tourism stakeholders like hotels and tour operators, exchange of visits of tour operators and opinion makers and participation in travel fairs and exhibitions in each other’s country.
  • Date:  22nd September 2015
  • It said extension of the Electronic Tourist Visa facility for the citizens of Cambodia by the Indian government had elicited a good response from the travel trade in both countries.
  • It also focuses on establishing exchange of programmes for cooperation in human resources development, investment in tourism and hospitality sectors, exchange of visits of tour operators/media/opinion makers for promotion of two way tourism.
