Dear Friends,

Wordsmith is the new initiative by the DayTodayGK team. Vocabulary indeed plays an important part in our daily life. Albeit we all have knowledge but we are unable to communicate due to lack of confidence, linguistic abilities and most of the time, we are unable to understand the meaning of the particular word.

So, here we present D2G’s Glossary in which we will share 10 words daily and we would encourage you to do the same. With this, we can increase our knowledge and build our Vocabulary stronger.

D2G’s Glossary- Episode 3

1. Crude – Adjective
Meaning: in natural state, unrefined.(अशोधित ) (தெளிவற்ற) (నాగరికత తెలియని)
Sentence: A crude remark or truth

2. Discreet – Adjective
Meaning: Respectful of Privacy, diplomatic.(सावधानी से) (வேண்டாதபோது பேசாத) (వివేకం)
Sentence: With a discreet gesture, she reminded him to mind his manners.

3. Adieu – Noun, Interjection
Meaning: Said to wish a final farewell or a goodbye.( अल्विदा) (பிரியாவிடை) (దండం)
Sentence: We bid our final adieus to our family before going for college.

4. Vexed – Noun
Meaning: To annoy or irritate.(परेशान ) (தொந்தரவான) (విసిగించటం)
Sentence: The teacher was vexed by his continued failure to improve his grades.

5. Trifle– Noun
Meaning: A thing or little value or of an insignificant amount.( छोटी सी बात ) (சிறுதொகை) (విలువ లేని వస్తువు)
Sentence: we needn’t trouble the headmaster over such trifles.

6. Nimble – Adjective
Meaning: Quick and light in improvement or action. (फुर्तीला) (விரைவான) (అతి చురుకైన)
Sentence: He was nimble mind and can improvise in any situation.

7. Butler- Noun
Meaning: A manservant having charge of wines and liquors.(ख़ानसामा) (உணவு பரிமாறுபவர்) (బట్లర్)
Sentence: Our butler is on leave.

8. Rattle – Noun
Meaning: make or cause to make a rapid succession of short, sharp knocking sounds.(खड़खड़ाना) (கிலுகிலுப்பை or ஆர்ப்பாட்டம்) (గలగల,టకటక శబ్దము )
Sentence: I wish the dashboard in my car would quit rattling.

9. Irradiate – verb
Meaning- To throw rays of light upon, to illuminate.(जगमगाना) (ஒளிவீசு) (కిరణీకరణము)
Sentence: to irradiate the mind.

10. Nonchalant – Adjective
Meaning: Casually calm and relaxed.(उदासीन) (உணர்ச்சியற்ற or அமைதியான) (క్రమబద్ధంకాని)
Sentence: We handled the whole frenetic situation with a nonchalant attitude.
