UK Election – David Cameron and Conservatives Get Majority

British Prime Minister David Cameron and his Conservative Party have won ultimate majority in the recently held UK Election and have won 331 seats out of 650  seats. Labour leader Ed Miliband said he would stand down and his party must “rebuild” with a new leader. The seats won by the Conservative Party is well enough to form a government without a coalition partner.

After winning the election, David Cameron said, “I truly believe we’re on the brink of something special in our country. Together, we can make Great Britain greater still.”

Labour Party has won 232 seats with 30.4%  vote share, emerging as largest opposition party. Scottish National Party (SNP) has emerged third largest party in this election by winning 56 seats with 9% of vote share. SNP has won 56 seats of the 59 seats from Scotland.

Following protocol, Cameron met Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace to agree to the formation of his Conservative government.
