Top Qualities that an employer will look for while hiring you!!!

Dear Aspirants,

Welcome to InterviewMagination – The New Initiative of D2G. In this section, we will update more articles related to Interview on regular basis. Kindly give your comments.

What really matters?

The Answer is definitely not your degrees or certificates or extracurricular activities or how you look. There are many other factors which attribute to you getting hired, which may include your communication skills, your confidence, your leadership qualities, your determination and also the attitude.

There is no point of having a Honors degree in hand, if you cannot present yourself in front of people. You might be top ranking student in your school and also in college, but if you don’t have the confidence to explain your purpose for opting for a job or are too shy to converse with your prospective co-workers, the chances of getting hired is very less.

We bring before you some qualities, which the employer looks for in a suitable employee:

SWOT Analysis – The Must

What is SWOT Analysis?

SWOT – Strength – Weakness – Opportunities – Threats

It is the best technique to understand yourself. You have to analyze yourself on regular basis. It helps you to get refined. Detecting problems and taking corrective measures shapes one up as the best professional.

Strength

  • What do you do better than anyone else?
  • What do people see as your strengths?

Weakness

  • What could you improve?
  • What should you avoid?

Opportunities

  • What good opportunities can you spot?
  • What interesting trends are you aware of?

Threats

  • What obstacles do you face?
  • What are your competitors doing?
  • Could any of your weaknesses seriously threaten your life?

Make a Table. Write everything. Work on the weakness and threats. Update the table on regular basis. Don’t postpone it. Start NOW itself.

“Talk to yourself at least once in a day. Otherwise you may miss a meeting with an excellent person in this world.” – Swami Vivekananda.

So Start Talking. Just spend ten minutes a day. It’s not a tough task.

What makes you different?

It is very important for you to justify your qualifications for the applied role. Always keep in mind that there would be thousands of candidates with similar qualifications and expertise but you need to prove yourself. You can tell about the challenges you have overcome and solved. You have to prove what makes you different from the others and that why should you be given a preference over others. You should make them believe that you are the right candidate.

Don’t be afraid of being different. Be afraid of being the same as everyone else.

Are you matured enough?

Are you capable of taking bold decisions? Every company would like to invest in a person who has a clear vision and can deliver the same with appropriate planning. You may appear for a job of low cadre. But always talk like you are the leader. Make them believe that you possess the quality of being a future manager. Your answer should carry crystal clear approach and management skills. The companies look for potential team members who can be groomed and can be advanced to the next level.

“Strength is Life and Weakness is Death” – Swami Vivekananda

You know your subjects and also about the company. Well.. You know yourself???

This is the most important part that everyone should take care of. This is a common question that has been asked every time in interviews. This does not imply that the resume you have carefully composed yourself (or by hiring an agency like https://www.arcresumes.com/local/massachusetts/) does not contain sufficient information about you. It only means that the panel would like to see your approach when you describe yourself. Always keep the answer very crisp and healthy. Never ever lie in this part. They can easily find out with a couple of additional questions. Don’t create a negative impression on you.

The initial two minutes are the most crucial time for you in any kind of interview. So give your best shot.

It’s We. Not I!!!

You can be a lone wolf or a kind of person who does all the work by yourself. But in a company, it won’t work. When you join any company, you will be assigned a common task or work with a set of people. To be the best candidate, you should be a good team member. Always believes in teamwork because “We can” is always better than “I can”, as it creates a positive environment and increases the chances of getting hired. As a part of a team, the presence of leadership qualities can be beneficial to improve the performance of the whole team. Moreover, you can get performance coaching certification to improve your stance at your workplace, which may present you with a greater opportunity.

He who cannot be a good follower cannot be a good leader.

Do You need to say YES for everything???

The answer is NO. Always follow your heart. If your heart says it is wrong, say it boldly. Also justify your answer and stand strong in it. Don’t be in a dilemma. Don’t change your stand again.

Here is the question faced by my friend an year back. A corrupted political leader was released from jail. The panel asked his opinion about that. Even though he is against that, he said he is happy with the decision of the Court. The panel got angry and asked multiple questions. Things got worse when he changed his stand. That’s it. The result was as expected. Not Selected.

Always stand in your decision. Don’t argue with them. Justify your answers. Listen the question carefully and then answer. Don’t give more than required. That may lead to additional questions.

Interview is just a conversation with one or two people. Whenever you appear for an interview, always keep this in your mind that this is not the only job. There are thousands of jobs available. This is just one among them. Even if it’s gone, You are left with 999. That’s a big number.
