SEBI penalizes PACL Rs 7,269 crore for illegal funds

Capital market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India has imposed a penalty of Rs 7,269 crore on property developer PACL and four of its directors for not complying with rules on selling investment products to public. The Regulator says the company deserves “maximum penalty” for such large-scale duping of the common man. SEBI said PACL and its directors made an illegal gain of about Rs 2,400 crore from so-called collective investment schemes in less than one year.

Zayn Khan elected as President of FMSCI

Zayn Khan has been unanimously elected as the new president of the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India at the council meeting held at Bengaluru. Khan was elected to replace R Bharath Raj, who passed away while serving as president on August 15. The meeting was chaired by FMSCI Chairman Vijay Mallya and was attended by all councillors. Khad has good experience in the sport and has contributed a lot for the technical side of the sport in India.

Recent MoUs signed between India and USA

ndia and the US have signed a significant MoU on energy security, climate change and clean energy which Secretary of State John Kerry said reflects the commitment of the two countries to make the Paris summit later this year a success.  Energy and climate change are two of the many issues on which the two governments made progress recently.

New York Yankees great Yogi Berra dies aged 90

New York Yankees catcher Yogi Berra, an athlete has died on 22nd September 2015. He was 90. Berra, a 15-time All Star and 10-time World Series champion. He is well known for his integrity, humility and a contagious good humor.Berra’s museum announced his death “with a profound sense of loss and heartfelt sorrow.”

UNDP to provide support for Arunachal Vision 2030

United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will help in implementation of Arunachal Vision 2030 and Chief Minister’s Mission on Skill Development and Employment Generation in the state. A team from UNDP India will visit Arunachal Pradesh in October and finalise the modalities of collaboration.

Stuti Narain Kacker appointed NCPCR chairperson

Stuti Narain Kacker, a 1978 batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Head of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights by Women and Child Development Ministry. Kacker retired as Secretary from Disability Affairs, in the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. She was heading the management committee of the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA). The announcement came after the recent Supreme Court rap over long delay in appointing a chairperson for the child rights panel.

Yudhvir Singh Malik – Man behind Maggi ban shifted to NITI Aayog

Food safety watchdog FSSAI’s CEO Yudhvir Singh Malik, the man behind the ban of global giant Nestle’s popular noodle brand Maggi, has been shifted as Additional Secretary in Niti Aayog. Malik, a 1983 batch IAS officer of Haryana cadre, was appointed to the post of Chief Executive Officer in Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under Health and Family Welfare Ministry, only in September last year.

Australian dairy exporters keen on FTA with India

Australian dairy exporters have asked the Indian government for a free trade agreement (FTA)  in a bid to improve the access to the country’s huge market. The local dairy exporters were now seeking the FTA with India in the face of stiff tariff barriers of between 30 and 60 per cent on dairy products. Australian dairy product exports to India stood at 1.2 million dollars in 2013-14.
