  • Sir Osborne Smith was the first Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, CD Deshmukh was the first Indian Governor of RBI.
  • Reserve Bank of India (RBI) was established in 1935 and Nationalized in 1949.
  • The first bank of limited liability managed by Indians was Oudh Commercial Bank founded in 1881.
  • Bank of Hindustan in 1770 is the first bank set up in India
  • The first presidency of SBI was established in Kolkata in 1806 during the British Raj and was named as Bank of Bengal.
