1. ADB Funds Rs 530 Crore Water Supply Schemes for 12 Cities in Tripura

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha has launched a major water supply project called the ‘Mukhyamantri Nagar Unnayan Prakalp.’ This project is designed to improve access to drinking water in 12 cities across the state. The total cost of the project is Rs 530 crore, and it is being funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The project is expected to be completed in three years and will benefit more than 75,000 families by upgrading the water infrastructure.

The project will cover 12 cities: Udaipur, Amarpur, Belonia, Melaghar, Bishramganj, Khowai, Ranir Bazar, Mohanpur, Dharmanagar, Kailashhar, Kumarghat, and Ambassa. Seven of these are district headquarters.

What will the project include?

The project will involve significant construction to improve water delivery. Key parts of the plan include:

Installing 305 kilometers of water pipelines
Building 25 deep tubewells, which are wells that reach deep underground to access water
Constructing 18 Iron Removal Plants to ensure clean, safe drinking water
Building four water treatment plants to purify the water
Creating 19 new water reservoirs to store and supply water
This project aims to ensure that people in these cities have reliable access to clean drinking water, improving the quality of life for thousands of families.

2. Jaipur to Host 25th Edition of IIFA Awards

Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, will host the 25th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards from March 7 to 9, 2025. This prestigious event will take place at the JECC (Jaipur Exhibition and Convention Centre) in Sitapura. The announcement was made during a special event at the historic Albert Hall, with Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari present. The Rajasthan government has allocated ₹100 crore for organizing the IIFA Awards. This amount is divided as follows:

₹50 crore from the state government
₹20 crore from the Rajasthan Industrial and Investment Corporation (RIICO)
₹30 crore from the tourism department
