1. IDBI Bank to divest stake in insurance joint venture

The Union cabinet approved infusing ₹9,300 crore into IDBI Bank, the lender announced plans to sell its stake in its insurance joint venture IDBI Federal Life Insurance company.

2. India and Russia target USD 30 billion in trade

India and Russia have decided to step up industrial collaboration and make new technologies and investment partnerships, particularly in high tech areas. The collaboration aims to expand bilateral trade to $30 billion by 2025. The decision was taken during the PM’s 3-day visit to Russia.

3. Wipro bags USD 300 million contracts from ICICI Bank

Wipro has won a 7-year contract worth $300 million from ICICI Bank. The project is to provide a range of services. The transactions are expected to end by September 30. For this project, Wipro is to hire 3,800 employees of Vara Infotech.

4. 1st National Conference on Cyber Crime Investigation inaugurated in New Delhi

First National Conference on Cyber Crime Investigation and Cyber Forensics is being held on 4-5 September 2019 at Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Headquarters in New Delhi. It was inaugurated by CBI Director Rishi Kumar Shukla.

5. Teachers day observed on September 05

Teachers’ Day is a special day for the appreciation of teachers, and may include celebrations to honor them for their special contributions in a particular field area, or the community in general.

The idea of celebrating Teachers’ Day took root in many countries during the 19th century; in most cases, they celebrate a local educator or an important milestone in education.

6. International Day of Charity observed on september 05

The International Day of Charity is observed annually on 5 September. It was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012.

The prime purpose of the International Day of Charity is to raise awareness and provide a common platform for charity related activities all over the world for individuals, charitable, philanthropic and volunteer organizations for their own purposes on the local, national, regional and international level.

7. Nuakhai Juhar: Odisha’s harvest festival celebrated

Nuakhai Juhar, a harvest festival welcoming the newly harvest crop of the season was celebrated in Odisha. It is one of the most ancient festivals celebrated in Odisha to welcome new crop of the season. It is an important social festival of Western Odisha and is an agricultural festival.

National Conference on ‘India-Africa Partnership in a Changing Global Order: Priorities, Prospects and Challenges’ held in New Delhi. It was organized by Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA).

9. StanChart launches DigiSmart card

Standard Chartered Bank has launched a DigiSmart credit card that is focussed on millennials. The card is available for a monthly fee of ₹49, which will, however, be waived off if the customer spends more than ₹5,000 in the previous month.

10. Nissan India appoints Rakesh Srivastava as new Managing Director

The local unit of the Japanese automobile major Nissan Motor India has roped in Rakesh Srivastava to lead the operation as Managing Director, multiple sources aware of the matter told ETAuto. Srivastava, who has over two decades of experience in top two Indian car companies – Maruti Suzuki India and Hyundai Motor India will be taking charge on September 5.

Prof Muhammad Yunus conferred ‘Lamp of Peace of Saint Francis ‘ award by Vatican. AIR PICNobel Laureate from Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus was conferred the ‘Lamp of Peace of Saint Francis ‘ award by the Vatican for his contribution towards establishing peace and harmony. The award is a recognition for distinguished work by an individual for promoting peace and dialogue among people.

12. Grammy Award winner LaShawn Daniels dies in car crash

LaShawn Daniels, 41, Grammy- Award-winning songwriter/ producer, has died after a fatal accident in South Carolina. Daniels who was Micheal Jackson and Beyonce’ s songwriter’s death was announced by his publicist Mr Jojo Pada.
