NHPC gets environmental clearance for Rs 25 K crore Dibang project

The National Hydroelectric Power Corporation has received the environmental clearance for setting up of multipurpose hydropower cum flood moderation project in Dibang, Arunachal Pradesh. The total estimation of the project is Rs 25,000 crore. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate change has given the approval for the Dibang Project on May 19′ 2015.

Dibang Project is not only a hydropower generating project but also facilitates flood moderation. The project will be capable of moderating floods in the areas downstream of the Dibang Dam to the extent of 3000 cumecs.  On completion this project will generate electricity upto 2880 MW. All North Eastern and Eastern states would benefit a lot from this project.

  • The Dibang Project is planned on the Lower Dibang Valley District in Arunachal Pradesh.
  • NHPC was incorporated in the year 1975. It is headquartered in Faridabad.
  • NHPC is a Mini Ratna Category-I Enterprise of the GOI with an authorised share capital of Rs. 1,50,000 Million.
  • Mr R S T Sai is the current Chairman and Managing Director of NHPC.
