Baahubali poster breaks Guinness World Record

Baahubali poster has entered the Guinness World Record for making the largest poster of more than 50,000 sq ft.  Global United Media, the company that distributed Baahubali in Kerala, was behind the idea of creating the poster, which was designed by Mr Rajamouli himself. According to the Guinness website, the poster-sized 51,598.21 square feet surpassed the previous record of 50687.25 square feet. A team of 30 members worked round the clock for three days to complete the poster. Baahubali, which is about two brothers at war for an ancient kingdom, has so far grossed over Rs 350 crore worldwide.

  • Bahubali was the son of Rishabha, the first Tirthankara and founder of Jainism in the present half-cycle of time.
  • Bahubali is a much-revered figure among Jains.
  • After winning the nonviolent duel with his elder brother, Bharata, he developed a desire for renunciation. He gave his kingdom to Bharata and became a Jain monk.
  • Bahubali is also called Gommatesh because of the statue dedicated to him.
  • “Gommateshwara” statue, built by the Ganga dynasty minister and commander Chamundaraya.

  • The statue is a 57-foot (17 m) monolith and is situated above a hill in Shravanabelagola, in the Hassan district of Karnataka state, India.
